About Alicia!
She was very wanted. Record labels held old fashion bidding wars in her honor, Alicia signed with Arista records in 1998. There she wrote with artists such as D'Angelo and Prince. She began the writing process, in which she started at the age of 14. In late 1999 Alicia followed Clive Davis to J Records, to continue her premiere to the music world. Although songs such at "Fallin" and "Troubles" were wrote by Alicia, she produced with Jermaine Dupri on "girlfriend" and Issac Hayes on "rock wit u"

Born and raised in Manhatten, the stunning, bi-racial Alicia Keys, recognizes her influeces...One which was her mother, who always said "You can quit on anything else, but you can never quit on your piano lessons." Alicia also said she was influenced by her music teacher that taught at The Professional Performing Arts school in Manhatten, who while she was majoring in choir, gave her valuable lessons on her voice. "That teacher spent so much time with me, that became the closest thing to vocal training I recieved." Alicia says. At the age of 16, Alicia's outstanding grades allowed her to graduate from high school early..." I was so involved in music that I had out grown all the pressure, gossip, and cliques in high school." Right out of high school, Columbia University accepted her, and she gave it a whirl wind...But her focus was on music.
